How I went from helper to owner
I learned concrete as a helper on a small crew. I spent a long time hauling, mixing and cleaning tools before the finishers trusted me with a trowel. Those were people who cared how a slab looks and how it holds up, and in 2020 I took what they taught me and started San Fernando Concrete right here in San Fernando. We're best known for driveways, patios and the rest of the flatwork around a home, the slabs you walk and park on.
The part I care about most is the part nobody sees, the subgrade the slab sits on and the way water leaves it. When the ground is raked level instead of dug out and packed, the concrete settles right along with the dirt. So if a budget has to give somewhere, I'll steer you toward a plainer finish before I'll skimp on the base. Have a look at what we build on our home page, and call me with a question anytime, even after the job's done.
What you can count on from our crew
Here's what you'll notice when we take on your driveway, patio or slab, from the first visit until the crew packs up and drives away.
You talk to me the whole way
I come out for the first visit and I run the job on site through the final walkthrough, so what you asked for on day one is what gets built. There's no handoff to a salesperson or to a crew you've never met.
An estimate you can compare
Your written estimate lays out the prep work, the cleanup and everything that's included, so you can set it side by side with other bids. Look closely at the base prep on each one, because nobody can see the base once the slab is poured, and it's usually the first thing cut to win on price.
Straight answers about cracks and curing
Concrete can crack, so we cut control joints, shallow grooves that give the slab a planned place to crack, and we cut them before cracks can pick their own spots. We'll also explain curing, the wait while the slab gains strength before you walk or drive on it, so nothing about your new concrete catches you off guard.
Licensed and insured
We're licensed and insured. The state licensing board requires a contractor's license when a job needs a building permit, uses any extra workers or costs $1,000 or more in labor and materials, and the city requires a city business license from anyone doing business in San Fernando, even contractors based somewhere else.
What to expect from first call to walkthrough
Here's how a job runs with us, from the day you reach out to the day you walk your new concrete. It works the same way for a small patio or a full driveway.
Call or send your details
Call (818) 806-6170 or use our contact form, and tell us what's going on with your cracks, sinking, pooling water or new patio. We reply within one business day of your call or message.
Meet me for the estimate
I come out myself to measure and see where your water runs. Then you get a free written estimate with no obligation. Size, tear-out, base work and the finish you pick usually move the price most.
Let us handle the permit
When a job calls for a permit, we pull it and handle plan check and inspections. Inside San Fernando city limits, those go through the Building and Safety Division. Permit timing and the weather usually set your start date.
Walk the finished job together
Our own crew does the work with me running it, and we keep washout and debris out of the street and gutters. At the end we walk the job with you and go over curing and care.
